Pittsburgh: The Strip

The Pittsburgh Strip seems to sum up Pittsburgh in some ways: its a spot for tourists and window-shoppers, offering large elaborate murals, while also offering it cheap produce and seafood, and worn street signs of old butchers and welding shops. Also, there's a giant scary santa!

PRIDE!

This weekend,  LGBQ pride swept the Nation's Capitol. To commemorate this event,  here are some wheatpastes based on images of Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz. Some better photos are to come, but enjoy these in the meantime. They can be found along the parade route in DC and on U Street NW.

Wheatpasting Workshop at Artomatic 2012!

This weekend a great group of artists turned out for JC's "Working Large" wheatpasting workshop at Artomatic in Crystal City, VA.

We talked about why and how to wheatpaste (or create giant collages). Themes included: techniques for creating images, how to make the wheatpaste, and how to apply it.

Please enjoy photos of our process and final product:
If your city were a fridge what would you put in it?
We have everything from chicken to Bart Simpson!

I hope you get inspired to get out and wheatpaste. Start a dialogue on the structures of your city!
